Overview
It’s in the Dark Age known as the Nine Year Winter ushered by the clashing asteroids against Earth two hundred years in the future. With the discovery of crystite, a new element that can generate a massive amount of power, mankind begins to explore the outside space craving for more of such resources. Technology is developed; colonies are built; and Arclight is invented to transport crystite quickly. Yet as more crystite is accumulated, the Melding, a giant energy storm, also emerges to pour out of the rift created by the Arclight, and mutates to a race called The Chosen to attack humans. That’s how Firefall starts its exciting gameplay mixed with both RPG and FPS.
Players in Firefall will act as human survivors to fight back the Chosen and take back the Earth from the Melding. With five battleframes (i.e. classes) available, players can choose to be Recon, Assault, Engineer, Medic or Dreadnaught, and try out the unique fires and special abilities of the chosen frame. Not just a single frame in fact: players are allowed to swap in-between at certain spot in the open world, only that each battleframe has to be leveled up separately. As in most shooter titles, a large arsenal of weapons and equipment will be there to meet players’ needs, which is made sweeter by the great variety of modules and ability backpacks used to customize abilities.
Being a team-based action shooter, Firefall will lead players into cooperative competitive gameplay in great variety. Upgrade equipment by technology, level up several battleframes of different play style, compete in different modes of PvP from the classic Team Deathmatch to Capture-and-Hold, and take missions to complete in diversified landscapes of the vast open world.
Firefall has whetted players’ appetite since it came into public view. With so much to like in the mmo-ish shooting experience, free-to-play, it has reached the milestone of 500,000 registered members just after its first invite-only beta test. Expect its demo at upcoming RTX in this July, more its official launch.
