Overview
Dawn of Darkness is a free online game from IGG, Fushou-based MMO gaming company previously known to publish Moonlight Online and Tales of Pirates. Race to be masterful archer, or efficient rogue, and even bararian.
Viewed as a browser game, or Facebook game, Dawn of Darkness delivers more than what is labelled under the tags. It features a couple of social mechanics that have never seen in a traditional Social games like Armies of Magic and the Ville. Dawn of Darkness brings a side-scroller dungeon-exploring experience with turn-based combat, which constitues the major part throughout the game.
The game as a whole has been excellent in terms of graphics, and some of environment scenes are not well textured probably because the artwork is designed by different designers of different level. For example, in the hometown, the game may not satisfy you until you are transferred to a dungeon through the ingame teleportation portal.
In the early stage, your heroes and pets may have a higher chance to win battles mostly because the game encourages players to get a smooth experience in the first 20-minutes, which plays an extremely role in keeping players happy. So the fluidity in questing, fighting and enhancing is implicitly presented throughout the game despite an occasional interruption with a slightly week loss.
In the game alone, you will not be experiencing too much similar stuff. However, if you had played Chinese browser games, the game would have definitely pushed you to think over it. Some questions are always haunting my mind: why do Chinese games remarkably resemble each other. Do they have a fixed template applying for all developers? Who is the original programer?
The questions may be getting nowhere to be answered in the end, but a serious and popular trend in China is they could develop games at no cost of copyright risk.
