Checkmate Online

Checkmate Online is an upcoming browser-based strategy game from KoramGame, a Chinese-based game developer behind the hit Three Kingdoms Online.

Similar to Hithere’s Iron Marshal and Just A Game’s War 2 Glory, Checkmate Online is set in World War II but it manages to distinguish itself with its close connection with the actual warfare. That’s not all, because Checkmate Online allows players to participate in not only Historical Campaigns but also Clash of Powers where they can battle over city controls and eventually dominate the European Continent.

Starting from 1938, you will participate in the Battle of Kiev, gradually recruit commands, strengthen troops, build your own base in Moscow, and then go back to battle fields for more glory and rewards. Various items can be collected once you defeat target enemies. Follow the considerate tips through the beginning of the game, you will find the game focuses on warring strategy rather than fighting skills. For example, you are specifically prompted to send your commanders to the military academy for further education on leadership and tactics, strengthen weapons and items, upgrade your commanders, and rearrange the battle formations while all the battles are conducted automatically after you simply click the target troops in the right panel on the interface.

In Checkmate Online, almost everything keeps reminding you that you’re on the European Continent during World War II, including the retro music, battles, and various figures. However, those who would like an intense warring experience or tight-scheduled base management may give this game a pass since the automatic battles and long hours of waiting for the only two building teams to cool down.
