Band Stars

Band Stars is a social game where you start your career as a band manager, compose songs and do recording, and rock to the top of the leaderboards among your Google plus friends. Like Dark Lengends, Band Stars can be played via Google plus and Chrome Web Store.

In Band Stars, you fire four musicians and put your studio in good order. After you choose a type of music genre and lyric style, you need to pick up two matches to get points for the song. Then your band gets busy: one musician first writes the song, which takes a while and scores points of the creation; then, band members get instrument ready and start recording, with Points rewarded to each; next, the band will perform and can use collected Inspirado to do solos to boost the song quality once more and rack up the chart position; and finally, one musician will polish the song for the last points. Once the song is completed, copies will be sold, money is earned and royalties collected.

During the whole process of composition, you will select the suitable musician(s) to do the series of jobs, as each band member has a limited amount of energy. Jobs wear away musicians’ energy, which is restored by rest over time or by purchased energy-drink.

Speaking of the gameplay, you take various quests to unlock new song genres and lyric styles, and then you just do the same procedural again and again, recording more songs, winning money and fame, and expanding the business by purchasing new instruments and upgrades and recruiting more musicians. While it’s appreciated by some music fans, it is also the target of critics as being lack of contents by others. As to the social elements, it allows you to borrow musicians from friends’ bands to boost song quality points, and keeps the chart for everyone to compete to be the top.

Band Stars looks good with beautiful graphics and simple gameplay. Yet it’s not the ubiquitous band for everyone.
